Reservation- Creating A New India

“World is working hard to strive forward

But in India

People are dying to be called Backward. ”

Well, the above quote is truly applicable for we Indians. Started in India after attaining Independence purposely for the upliftment of Backward class people that included Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, today this reservation system has found its place in almost every underlying community of Indian States be it the Jats of Haryana or the Gujjars of Rajasthan or else Patels of Gujarat. Today this system has become so prominent that even after dividing the country day-by-day on the basis of caste, people are blindly supporting it. Our country is a place where numerous freedom fighters sacrificed their lives to unite it but today, people are simply ending their lives just to attain reservation. This is because the reservation is not limited to only education it is also practised in the working environment and even in tax payment. And all these issues are prevailing just because our politics is interested in it. Records show that in India numerous political leaders rose to fame because they came from a backward caste and their motto was to provide reservation. These leaders make people realise the benefits of reservation so that they can claim political power. And when these leaders forget their promises people are eventually left with two ways i.e, either do a mass protest or commit suicide.

In India, people often ask why do meritorious students study and settle in abroad, when India has so many top-rated colleges and MNC ’s? The answer is very simple “RESERVATION SYSTEM”. If a general category student scores 130 marks in a college entrance exam chances are high, that he might not get admitted to the college but if a Scheduled caste student scores even 80 then it's for sure that he will get admitted in the same college. Same is the case for getting a job in civil services. So when they realise that chances are limited here why would a meritorious general category student settle in India when foreign has so much to offer and that too without any reservation bar.

Then we have got so many good laws, thanks to our government that now if a general caste person abuses a backward caste person then the former will end up either in jail or have to pay a heavy fine. Moreover, the beauty of this law is that it does not have a vice-versa. Also, we have a law that states that a political leader has no right to speak something abusive against Backward caste people neither in public nor in media, but for general caste no such law is applicable.

Is that what we call a unified India, where every citizen is equal in terms of caste, colour and religion ???

So Indians wake up, let the Reservation System be minimized or else the coming generation will see a new India i.e“Reserved India”.
