With every brushstroke, an artist’s imagination is stridden to perfection. Painting is an art form; it is not just smearing different colors on to the canvas. For some, these simple yet artistic strokes may mean nothing more than just a normal painting, only a few could see the hidden depth and inner meaning behind it.

Every artist’s life begins with a colorful pallet, filling up that empty space of a canvas with imagination beyond our reach and the artwork only a stroke away. Painting, which is considered to be a lively hobby, is also known to be a child’s way to express his thoughts, ideas and creativity. For a kid, what he or she has painted might look to you like paint splashed on the paper, but from their point of view it could be a galaxy with a billion stars gazing at them or a humungous submarine discovering the sea underneath. This activity often helps children gain a lot of self-confidence.

Painting brings up an emotional growth in a person. It could help them overcome the psychological and physical strain and help you cope emotionally. It gives you an inner vision and helps you see things from different perspectives. It also helps you feel your emotions, the whirlpool escalating in your body, making it a way to vent all of them out through painting. The canvas might be filled with colors of sadness or somberness, angry or disturbed, but you might have done a good job on expelling out those feelings. It offers relief to others at some degree.

Painting can be done on any kind of surface, be it on a paper or glass. Like fashion, it too has different styles. There’s oil painting, watercolor painting, acrylic and pastel painting, sand painting, enamel and tempera paintings to name a few.

Mona Lisa, the painting everyone’s heard of is a half-length portrait of a woman with one of her rarest smiles, hanging off from the walls of The Louvre Museum in Paris. This masterpiece was captured by the famous Leonardo Da Vinci, well known for his art and sculptures. The Shakuntala, one of the well-known paintings in India painted my none other than Raja Ravi Varma, India’s most celebrated artist. M. F. Husain, a maestro was prominent in the 1940s for his narrative paintings. He started his career with painting billboards and up surged to greater heights in no time, with his love for painting and other art forms.

As time passed on, different styles of painting came into existence and also disappeared, but the zeal to continue finding art everywhere still remains. Use a knife or a spray can, a brush or your hands whatever tool it takes to paint your mind’s eye, so let your imagination flow!
