Music is an art form and cultural activity. It is believed that music was originated in ancient India or Greece. It was used as a medium of communication with gods.

However in present day vwe have many types of music such as popular music, traditional music, art music, music for religious ceremonies, work songs know as chanteys, music for marriage ceremonies etc.

Now it has different uses such as used during prayer, for meditation, workout, drama performance, for dance, and most importantly relaxation.

From the day start to day end we love to hear music for entertainment and relaxation. There are music as per our mood. Moreover music has become a necessary element for relaxation. It also helps in stress management.

Music can have a profound effect on both the emotion and the body. Researchers at Stanford University have said that " Listening to music seems to able to change brain functioning to the same extent as a medication ". They noted that music is something that almost anybody can access and makes it an easy stress reduction tool.

But what type of music reduces stress the best? It's a bit surprising that their is ni particular type of music that will be effective for relaxation of mind. The type of music that will make us relax depend on our mood and somehow connected with weather. Forcing yourself to listen to relaxation music that irritates you can create tension, not reduce it.

The soothing power of music power is a well established. It has a unique link to our emotions. Music have a beneficial effects on our psychological function. singing along can also be great helpful to release tension.

students preparing for examination may think it as a waste of time but listening to music after completion of one chapter hepls you in better concentration.
