Drugs are chemicals that affect the body and brain tremendously. Different drugs can have different effects. Some effects of drugs include health consequences that are long lasting and permanent.

Today more than 7 million people suffer from an illicit drug disorder and one in every four results in death due to illicit drug use. In fact more illness and diabetes that are associated with drug abuse than any other preventable health condition.

Drug abuse is an issue that can result from a wide variety of social influences,stressful events and mental disorders. Drug abuse among adolescents is a troubling issue because it increases the chances of developing emotional issues,permanent damage of tissues in every system that can lead to death.Previous scientific research has identified social factors including the media and peers play an important role in psychological development and impact an adolescent's decision to start experimenting with substance.

  • Benzodiazepines

  • Cannabis

  • Heroin

  • Ecstasy

  • Cocaine

  • Krokodil

  • Marijuana

  • Crack

  • Cannabis

Effects of Drug Addiction :-

  • Heart conditions ranging from abnormal heart rates to heart attacks and collapsed veins and blood vessel infections from injected drugs

  • Problems with memory,attention and decision making,which make daily living more difficult

  • Seizures,stroke,mental confusion and brain damage

  • Global effects of drugs on the body such as breast development in males,etc.

  • Increase in body temperature, which may lead to other health problems.

According to Dryden Edwards statistics in 2010 it was shown that 30% of 10th graders in USA have experimented Marijuana and 22.5% of 12th graders have used variety of inhalants.

Appropriate solutions for drug abuse issue already exist but the only remaining obstacle is the lack of effort in implementing proven methods of drug abuse treatment.

Unfortunately scientific research is ahead of actual implementation of the findings on solving drug abuse issues among adolescents. Rather than conducting further research on the topic ,implementing the current findings should be the primary aim because the drug abuse among teenagers are growing at an alarming rate. So theoretical knowledge won't be helpful until it is implemented to test and see whether it is useful to solve this issue.
