In the previous part,I have discussed about the pros of reservation system and why it is needed. In this part we are going to discuss about the negative effects of caste based reservation system.

Most people who don't support this reservation system have the point of view that, reservation system should be made on the basis of economic condition and not caste basis. On the other hand those who supports caste based reservation has the point of view that reservation system was made to improve the social status and not economic status.

Now let's take into account the last sentence I've mentioned. They literally wanna say economic condition doesn't really have any direct impact of social condition. But is that so? How many evidences can one provide that a DALIT or anyone equal to that having good economic stability is treated indifferently than anyone not having economic stability.

We should also remember that as we are taking a country into account,we should take the majority into account. The problem is that caste is the bar in jobs, higher education, major exams. In exams like NEET,JEE MAIN,CAT,RRB 50% of the seats are reserved for candidates of lower castes. So it's certain that many deserving general candidates will get eliminated due to lack of seats. In cities like Kolkata,Delhi,Mumbai,Bangalore etc the caste system is proving to be a big hindrance in the path of successful life for youths. In jobs also different states have different criteria of reservation. For example in Andhra Pradesh around 55% reservations are there for govt jobs. It rises upto 60% in Maharashtra.

Drawbacks of caste based reservation system:-

  • Skilled and deserving candidates are getting rejected as talent is not getting proper opportunities.

  • It enhances the gap and hatred between two sections of society.

  • Originally benefitted people from reservation keeps enjoying this again and again, which further divides benefitted class from actually backwards people.(Failure of actual purpose of resevation)

  • Lack of workholism and efficiency in students having reservations due to narrow thinking that "we will get easily selected" (manipulating the system)

  • Frustrated and rejected youths are attracted to foreign countries, and after being recruited by companies of that countries, they work hard in different fields, develop technologies etc. Later those companies sale those technologies to us at 10x cost.

Solutions to end caste based reservations:-

  • Reservation should be given to those who belongs to truely weaker section on the basis of economic condition.

  • Many IAS,IPS,CEOs still calls themselves Dalit to gain sympathy and expresses their struggle. They take benefits from promotions and use this as a legacy to their children. If they are not ready to come out of that oppressed group then how can they expect others to do so?

  • Most important- By removing Castism. There is no pride in introducing myself as so called higher caste person.

So from all these things we gets a certain idea that we will continue to be slave of corrupt ideology until citizen, society, education are not free from caste system.

Yes we can't deny the fact that many people in past and even today people are facing suppression and unequal treatment. But for that reservation is not a solution for sure. If a process fails to uplift castism even after being there for 70years,then certainly that is not a proper solution. So it's better to end this method, and try to give equal opportunity and treatment. Unless castism is getting omitted from our society it will be hard to attain equality specially in the rural parts where people still have backdated beliefs.
