Standing in the 21st century, programming is yet another necessity that everyone should learn. Well, there are many programming languages in the industry each used for their specific characteristics but if someone wants to know what the most popular programming language is, then answering that question might become a little difficult. As there are many versatile languages out there, on one side there is java, Kotlin, C++ (though not used too much in frontend development), etc. But there is one another programming language that is immerging nowadays and that too with a very fast growth rate. And that is Python. Well, python is actually a very old language and perhaps came before java. It is just that it took a very long time to become popular. And now that it has become popular nowadays it is being extensively used in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Well, we all know that AI is the future of computers. There is another great feature of Python and that is it is very easy to learn. To put simply no other programming language is this much easy to learn. No curly braces, no punctuations nothing. In fact, if someone is starting programming then he or she must always choose python as it is this much easy. The Python programming language was created by Guido Van Rossum at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica. It is basically a successor of the ABC language. The Python creator Guido van Rossum enjoyed a British comedy group named “Monty Python” and the name of the programming language is derived from there. Python gives special features like exception handling and can also interface with the Amoeba operating system. The latest version of Python is the version 3.7.3 but the older versions are also supported. Python is a very easily readable language and is visually uncluttered as it often uses English keyword whereas other languages use punctuations. Curly Braces are not used in Python to delimit blocks and semicolons after statements are also optional. Instead, it uses whitespace indentation. An increase in indentation signifies the starting of a new block and a decrease in indentation signifies the end of that current block. Python is this much popular that since 2003 it has consistently secured its position in the top 10 most popular programming languages conducted by TIOBE Programming Community Index. The results of an empirical study showed that scripting languages like Python are more productive than conventional programming languages like C or Java. Large organisations like Google, Facebook, NASA, Yahoo!, CERN and many others mostly use Python because of its versatility. Artificial Intelligence projects use Python with the help of libraries like TensorFlow, Keras, Scikit. So using Python just opens up a wide variety of options because of its versatility. And hence that’s why Python is hailed as the fastest growing programming language.
