We love those outfits that our favourite Bollywood characters sport and how we wish we could wear them to college but….. public transport and dress codes come in the way. We all want to dress up like a star and yet be comfortable. Stress no further, because here are five iconic bollywood looks that you can actually recreate for college.
Alia Bhatt looked gorgeous in her long skirts and tank tops, with beautiful kohl smeared eyes and right amount of junk jewellery to complete the look. The look is very easy to carry out and comfortable as well. Try combining solid coloured tops with bright, printed long skirts for contrast. You could switch the tank tops for long sleeved ones, or put on a shrug if you have a ‘no sleeveless’ dress code.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is undoubtedly a favourite among us millenials and ‘Scholar Naina’ is probably the most relatable character that has existed for some of us. Her bright floral printed dresses teamed with solid colored shrugs or sweaters look simple yet fresh. If the summer dresses become a problem for their length, you could always opt for the kurti and patiala outfit which Naina wore while she travelled Udaipur with Bunny. Try sticking to pastel shadesinstead of darker tones for a more “Badi fresh lag rahi ho, Naina” look.
Those long chikankari kurtis with ankle length ripped jeans are a match made in heaven. It makes for the perfect dressy yet casual look. Wear gorgeous silver jhumkas, a silver nosepin which is so in trend right now and smudge your kajal to complete the look. Pro tip? Try rolling your kurti sleeves for a more flattering and confident appearance. Trust me, it helps.
Kurtis, rolled up boyfriend fit jeans and vibrant scarves….thats Vaidehi Trivedi for us. While she sported many looks in this film, we are drooling over her perfect Indo-western outfits which she wore while she worked in Singapore. They key point to pull off her look is to either have a bright scarf or an ethnic embroidered jacket to pair with denims, and accessorize with silver earrings.
Deepika Padukone effortlessly pulled off the Bong look in this movie and how! She also gave us Bengalis great outfit goals. Be it the long kurta with cropped palazzos or the light coloured kurtis with cropped jeans, its easy, its comfy and very very fashionable. What enhances this look? Gorgeous and bold kohl rimmed eyes (cuz apparently we bongs have beautiful eyes) and a bindi.
These are my personal favourite Bollywood inspirations when it comes to dressing up. Please comment if you love any other character and the way she dressed, or any other topic you would like me to cover. I sincerely hope you like this article.
