Are you glued to your smartphone for more than 8 hours out of 24 hours in a day? Do you find it tough to stop staring at your mobile even when you know you are not going to receive any important call or message throughout the day? Do you seek your phone as the best time pass option available to you? Do you get that mini heart attack when you don’t find your phone for few minutes? If yes, then you are “smartphone addicted”. You know this will harm your eyes, your day schedule, your mood and will waste your time but still you find it hard to put it down. Well to its solution, the very first thing that matters is to accept your addiction and you are done half way with the battle. Once you agree to be ready for the change of this bad habit, these tips will prove immensely beneficial to you-

1. Turn off notifications

Have you wondered what makes you check your mobile again and again? It’s that “toing” sound that you hear when you receive a notification from your insta or your whats app or Facebook. There can be times when you are about to get an important message or mail and that you need to reply on time. But let’s be honest it’s not always like that. You surely can turn them off for the days when you are not doing work.

 2.Limit your smartphone usage

Limit the use of your smartphone smartly. You can fix a particular time to have a look at your phone and not always; like you may check it once or twice within an hour. And it can completely be ignored when not necessary. Avoid using it in social gatherings and at meal times.

3. Uninstall unnecessary apps

If you give a thought to the list of essential apps those you actually need on your smartphone, it will not be as big as the list of apps those you have installed. There are many apps those you don’t use for months and they just contribute in giving you another useless reason to stick to your smartphone. Get rid of them as soon as possible. Make some space for something better or nothing at all.

4. Turn phone off before going to bed and at meals

A bad habit those Indians generally have is to not switch off their phones when they go to sleep or take their meals. Just switch it off or put it on airplane mode, that’s it, it’s that simple. If you find it tough in the beginning then start it by challenging someone of your family or friends. Reward yourself when you win (of course not by using your smartphone).

5. Give your time to family, friends and to you

You use a lot of your mobile just because you think you have that much of time. But the reality is that you, knowingly or unknowingly, take out time out of your busy schedule to use it in metro or bus or anywhere else. Try to make yourself busy into something better that makes you forget your smartphone. Spending time with your family, friends or even with yourself can make you do so (if they themselves are not smartphone addicted ;)).

The funny fact is, people know about all the tips those they can use to minimise their smartphone addiction but they don’t actually practice these tips. It’s my urge to not just read out the above mentioned techniques and forget them the next moment but to follow what is being conveyed through them.
