We Indians have a few things close to our hearts,
Religion, culture and patriotism stay in the middle,
While Bollywood and food form other important parts.
But our hearts beat together when we hear 'CRICKET',
Because we have IPL- Cricket's biggest festival.
The governing body of the Indian Premier League has given it the perfect tagline: India ka Tyohaar
(India's festival). Neither Hindu's, nor Muslim's, not even Christian's, but India's festival. How can the world underestimate our love for the game, when we host the whole cricketing world for this month-long feast of entertainment. Eight teams, with 25 players each including Indian players and overseas players, are like those eight dishes in a buffet that will leave you wanting for more.
One big highlight of IPL is that stadiums are jam-packed. Everyone wants to see an IPL game live in a stadium. God! That atmosphere is just an inch above the highest order of energetic. Fans screaming, fire-crackers, cheer-leaders and that enfamous IPL trumpet. Just imagine that you are sitting in a stand, and the batsman hits towards you. You will actually see people around you trying to snatch that big moment from you. Fans dancing when a boundary is hit; fans dancing when wicket falls. Stadiums filled with music and roar of fans. What more do you expect of a festival?
Pundits actually predict the standing of a particular team just after the auction. While many of them are eventually proven correct, some keep guessing what went wrong. Afterall, apart from the superstars, even a newcomer can change the whole scene. And IPL is appreciated for bring up new cricketing talent.
These newcomers becoming the next Ganguly, next Kapil Dev. Indeed, IPL is a pool of talent.
With it being one of the hottest topic of the country, people have got another topic to talk about, apart from the upcoming general elections. "Did you see the match last night?" should be declared as the pet dialogue for April-May. Seeing our level of preparations in IPL, one thing is sure - Cricket was falsely kept as the Nation Sport of England. Cricket seems more Indian than it is English. And with IPL, we give a message loud and clear that India is the craziest when it comes to Cricket.
