YUVRAJ SINGH, whom we all call Yuvi, is a very familiar name. His journey in the game of cricket is worth remembering for a lifetime and is the most happy yet heart breaking story. Born on 12th December 1981, Yuvraj Singh was multi talented right since his childhood. As a child , he had acted in a film too. I bet you didn't know this surprising fact. His father , Yograj Singh was a fast bowler who had only played a single test match for India. Since then, he always wanted Yuvraj to take up cricket as a profession and represent India.
This was the beginning of a journey which had many ups and downs. Right from being called as the “Next Big thing” in International Cricket to paying death a visit in the form of Cancer , this was a ride to remember for life. Now , let us have a look at the milestones that Yuvi has achieved in his 19 year(2000-2019) long career. U-15 WC , U-19 WC , ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 - there is something similar in these 3 tournaments. YUVRAJ was adjudged 'TheMan of the Tournament' in all these tournaments in which India won.
If I ever have a son, I will name him Yuvraj - Saurav Ganguly
Talking about milestones, Yuvraj can be called as Mr. Milestone. The list of his achievements just goes on and on. For all of those who've watched 'MS Dhoni - The untold story' , there is this dialogue which Sushant(Dhoni) says about Yuvi - " Yuvraj Singh.. Double century. Itna maara Itna maara Dhaaga kholdiya." I would not hesitate to say that Yuvraj has done the same all throughout his cricketing career.
Who doesn't remember the 6 sixes that he hit from a Stuart Broad over at World T20 2007. It is still a record of the fastest 50 (of 12 balls) and I can watch that video on a loop. He also scored 138* against England in an ODI match when he had a sore back.He had scored a total of 365 runs and picked 15 wickets in the ICC 2011 Cricket World Cup when he knew he was fighting for both his country and his life.
In the innings against the West Indies where he scored a hundred , he was continuously vomiting blood. He was told to go back but he didn't. That showed what the World Cup and the game meant to him. Yuvraj showed us what 'Never Give up' truly means. Then came the recovery stage.
The lion was back to his jungle. It was time to roar again and he did. He smashed a magnificent 150* against England in 2017 which is his highest score in One day Cricket. Finally , he became the man who made sure India lifted the world cup after 28 years , The man who made a blistering come back into limited overs cricket.
If anyone wants to fight in their life, then Yuvraj is the best example - Sachin Tendulkar
Thank you for everything. For everything you've done for the sport , For every six you hit , For every wicket you've taken. That Roar will be missed. You will be missed Yuvi. Happy Retirement. ♥️ Hope you get all the success off the field just like you've achieved milestones on the field. You are forever a champion. ❤
