The eye shadow brush is run over a light colour.

Starting with the two colours:
a neutral colour and a darker colour.

The brush is run over the light, neutral shade and then any excess shadow is tapped off.

The colour should be applied across the entire lid covering from the lash line to just above the crease with sweeping upward towards the brow.
