Surprised???...

Yes! A heels or a stiletto heel found on some boots and shoes originally made for men. High-heel shoes were worn by men and women courtier. Traces of heel in history belong to Persian men in 10th century, who wore heels while riding horse so their feel would fit better in the stirrups.

As we know cowboys wear heels. The high heel was originally about FUNCTION NOT FASHION.

But soon after, they slowly began to take the shape we know now, with a thinner heel and pointed toe. The point of wearing heels was hardly to look good in a miniskirt.

“People say women wear heels because it elongates their legs or make them look taller, but before their legs were hidden under long skirts, so no one cared! It was presenting a small foot considered good then for women”.

Before heels were made from wood. Later shoemakers started using steel so they could be thinner, that was the time “STILETTO” was born.

Heels continued to evolve, from platforms to wedges to boots and beyond. Sooner heels were seen in public- street fashion from high class or court.

There was a decline in popularity. Subsequently slender heel saw a major comeback after 2000 when young women adopted the style for dressing up office wear or adding feminine touch to casual wear.

So, now you know the history behind why shoes were complex, right? If someone asks you about your long heel practicality, you can tell history: “Heels, were used to be practical”.
