For a woman it is a constant struggle, juggling between work and home. But working itself is pretty difficult due to the various issues the women are facing at work place. And these issues are even faced by the big artists and actor. a research was done by the Thomson Reuters Foundation in support with the Rockfeller Foundation, in which they asked more than 9,500 women working at advanced economies, about the issues that affect them at most. The findings were really disheartening and compelling. Following are the issues:

WORK-LIFE BALANCE – this problem is very much prevalent in most of the families. A woman is held more responsible to look after the family and the children and is expected to give priority towards her family. But the same is not expected from a man. How many women give up their jobs after having kids or even after marriage? Another reason is that; the women have to prove themselves at every stage in their job. And due to this peer pressure which they put upon themselves they fail to maintain the work-life balance. Many women fall into depression due to this and find themselves without any belief on their abilities.

EQUAL PAY – There has recently been a lot of talk about inequality in pay due to gender bias. Women are working the same amount of time and the same way as men, then why the difference in the pay they get. This is a major issue in Bollywood and many actresses have come out to raise their voices against this issue. But the main issue is whether there will be any action taken or remedy done towards this unfair gender bias. Women have the same dedication towards their work as any other man; maybe more than their male colleagues because of the struggle they had to go through to reach that stage in their work life. And when their dedication is rewarded with such unfair pay, all their struggles seem futile and useless.

HARRASMENT – It is no surprise or unknown fact that most women go through harassments in their workplace, be it sexual or mental harassment. Many women do not speak out about these things in fear of losing their job. They are expected of sexual favours in return to receive promotion. Many women are accused of using other means to earn or receive a promotion which is nothing but mental harassment. Some people cannot digest the fact that a woman has surpassed them and these things are even done by women who become jealous of their counterparts. We are living in a crucial age where women need to stand up for other women but when there is no unity among the women then how can we change the society.

Though there are many reforms in the maternity leave laws and other things but the question remains the same, say, after 10 years will there be any solution to these issues? Will there be more career opportunities for women? Will they be given what they deserve? All this remains a mystery and a person cannot singlehandedly change the society. The society will change only when the people want to change and want to bring out a change.
