Things I Found Illogical In Harry Potter

Don’t hate me for this article if you are a hardcore Potterhead. Believe me, I grew up with Harry Potter, both books and movies. But that being said, I don’t find it quite compelling to stay in the fandom any longer thanks to JK Rowling herself. The books and movies weren’t perfect themselves. But then again, what is? So, as much as I was okay to go along with them, the recent bizarre information and details, and not to mention the deviation the Fantastic Beasts movies took from the canon literature has driven me to a point where I’m considering quitting Harry Potter’s extended universe. So, yes. I am not going to consider anything except the original seven books as authentic.

In this article, I’m going to point out some illogical or wrong things in the books and movies that are OG.

Ginny

The books portray Ginny Weasley as a timid 11-year-old in Chamber of Secrets but go on to evolve her into one of the most badass members of Dumbledore’s Army. Brave, strong, reckless, and smart. That’s who Ginevra Weasley is in the books. But looking at the one in the movies I’m tempted to scream at the screen as to what the hell the writers and the director were thinking? I mean, Bonnie Wright is an amazing actress and all you do is to make her tie shoelaces and get her dress zipped by Harry? How stupid can you be?

Peter Pettigrew

We all know that Fred and George are perhaps the most intelligent pranksters ever, along with their hand on the Marauder’s Map. But seriously speaking, how did they not notice their brother sleeping with a guy who is presumed dead?

Thestrals

This is perhaps one of the most important mistakes. Hagrid explains in Order of the Phoenix that only people who have witnessed death can see thestrals. And we see that Harry cannot see them before Goblet of Fire, despite having witnessed his mother and father being killed. What were you thinking, Rowling?

Education

While we have important subjects necessary to live in the real world, like Defence Against Dark Arts, where are other things necessary to make students better people, like Sex Ed, or foreign languages among other things?

Harry and Ginny

If you are reading the books for the first time, I’ll definitely tell you, you are having Harry and Hermione as the couple and Ron as the third wheel. It is only logical. While Harry and Ginny are an okayish couple, they come nowhere close to the level Harry and Hermione could have been.

The Time Turner

It would take a really long time to explain this one. So, shortly said, the working explained in Prisoner of Azkaban would make it out so that there is an eternal loop of activities happening over and over again, continuously.

Deathly Hallows

The team spend a lot of time bickering among themselves and in forests while travelling. It was way more than what was actually necessary. It is as if the smartness of Hermione was totally absent in book 7. Cut out the parts in the forests, and you end up with a tight plot within half the size of the original book.

Disclaimer: The above points of criticism are totally my POV and has nothing to do with how you feel about the series. Cheerio.

Though I am a hardcore Harry Potter fan, but I agree with you to some extent. Do read my review of the Harry Potter series as well!
