A relationship based on lust can be shattering. It’s impossible to know how many people’s lives have been really messed up because of lust. I do know lust has left a lot of people as hurting victims.

So what is lust? When we speak of lust as it relates to relationships with the opposite sex, it can be defined this way – “when a person’s body is far more important than their soul.”

It is just like marketing a product in numerous ways without thinking of profit and losses, until you have completely sold it off. Here are some signs to watch for to differentiate pure lust from love.

Lust is mostly based on the idea of sexual desire as it exists in longing, fulfilment, and memory i.e. one is totally focused on a person's looks and body. But Love is all about spending quality time together and getting engrossed in conversations and forgets about the hours passing.

Lust is when you keep the relationship on a fantasy level; you are lovers, but not friends.

Love is to honestly listen to each other's feelings, make each other happy, and motivate your partner to be a better person.

Well said by Marian Lanquette,"Lust starts with chemistry. Love starts with trust and respect”. Lust is mostly based on the idea of sexual desire as it exists in longing, fulfilment, and memory. When lust is longing, the fulfilment of that longing is hunted; but as soon as it is achieved, it becomes shameful, and is hated. While it is experienced it might be bliss but as soon as it is finished it becomes ruinous trouble. In longing, it is delightful but in memory, the pleasure it afforded is merely a dream.

It is true that lust causes confusion, sometimes fooling us, cheating on us and playing mind games. But most of the time, we recognize lust for what it is and choose to follow it blindly. Somehow we hope lust will bring us to a happy ending. It never does. It can’t. It does not know how. Lust will never change. It will always be what it is.

Love never changes either. Love wants to lead us to the right path where there is happiness, hope, and a deep sense of self-respect. Love always gives because God is love. So ask yourself again, what turns me on, is it love or lust? .The decision is ours and will always be so.
