You all must have heard of this term from some or the other close one in life. Migraine, with its rapidly increasing pace is becoming pretty common in people nowadays. Not only in men and women but also quite frequently found in children of all ages. To be precise, the studies say that migraine is found in the humans between ages 10 and 40. What is Migraine?

It is a fierce headache that can last from 4 hours to 3 days and is most probably found to happen in a particular section of the head. Unlike a normal headache, it is associated with vomiting, nausea and other such problems.

Causes of Migraine headache

Although the doctors have not yet found the exact cause of migraine headache, they associate it with fatigue, bright light, weather changes, stress, depression, sleeping problem and others.

Factors that can trigger a migraine headache

Stress

When your are tensed regarding some issue, your brain releases some chemicals causing blood vessel changes, leading to migraine.

Caffeine

Consuming too much caffeine or abstaining from it suddenly both can lead to migraine headaches. When your body (blood vessels) is used to certain certain condition and faces a sudden increment or drop in level, this problem may occur. Although caffeine (eg. coffee) itself may prove to be a solution to acute migraine pain.

Changes in your sleep

If you do not take regular sleep for 6-8 hours daily, it may lead to fatigue which can result in migraine pain.

Changes in weather

Changes in altitude and atmospheric pressure have also been found to trigger such a pain.

How to know whether it a normal headache or a migraine pain?

  • A headache that begins with a dull pain and keeps increasing until it becomes difficult to bear.

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • The pain is not in the complete forehead instead it affects only a part of it sometimes including the eyeball n upper cheek as well. The pain might also be on the backside of the head.

  • Dizziness fatigue and blurred vision

How to cure Migraine?

Although some people feel that taking normal headache medicines like Saridon or Disprin might be a remedy for this however they seem to be useless if the headache is of migraine.

Treatments are available in all forms whether homeopathy, allopathy or Ayurveda.

There are various quick body pressure points as well that can be pressed when it's paining that may prove to be a temporary cure (sometimes permanent). Just above the nose between the two eyebrows, pressing the point with your thumb or finger for 2-3 minutes can give some relief. Points are also present on the left palm that can bepressed.

Apart from these, keeping the legs dipped in icy cold water for 10-15 mins has also helped a lot of people.
