'Sixth sense is an ability to grasp information without using other five senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell or taste'. This is the answer we usually hear from everyone. But regarding technology it slightly differs. Sixth sense is a gesture based wearable computer system developed at MIT Media Lab. It is a gestural interface device comprising a camera and projector. Sixth sense was developed by Pranav Mistry. He made a remarkable achievement in the history of Indian science and technology. To view the demo of the sixth sense copy the following YouTube link: https://youtu.be/Tq22KBGwMxc

Now-a-days people are getting busy and have no time to carry every gadget with them. As technology is upgrading day by day, people are prefer to smarter work than harder ones. The sixth sense device invented by Pranav Mistry is a model(prototype) of next level of digital to real world interfacing. It comprises a camera, a projector, a mobile cum computing device and some coloured sensors. These sensors will be put on the finger tips of humans. Sixth sense uses various technologies like gesture recognition, image processing etc. The projector projects the visual image on the screen that may be on any surface. When user moves their hand gestures to form some movements with the colours marked on the finger tips, the cameras capture these movements and everything goes on. And today, this digital world has become a part of our life. To interact with digital world we people use the gadgets like mobile phones, computers, laptops, music systems and many more. This sixth sense is the advanced version of all these gadgets where we can use everything only with one device. It's something like Everything without Anything.

With this technology, we can do anything without different devices and even without computer with us. Few things that we can do with a sixth sense technology are:

  • Making a call without using a cell phone and only with the help of fingertips and palm.

  • Taking pictures without cameras but using only fingers.

  • Seeing the flight delay on the ticket on paper.

  • Opening internet access without computer or any gadget but only on any surface or even on a piece of paper.

  • Transferring data just by dragging from starting point to destination point.

This technology has endless applications. It provides easy control over machines. This will have various applications based upon imaginations of the developers. The happiest thing is the software source code is open. This will enable everyone to make their own applications depending upon the individual. But we need to wait for a while to see this wonder in the market.
