Many people want to join in Defence of our country. Few are very interested and committed to serve the nation. But only few people have a complete idea regarding how to join the Indian defence forces. For Boys, NDA exam is conducted twice a year and can write after completion of twelfth. After qualifying NDA one attend the interviews and personality tests and can join Army/ Naval/ Air force. But, for girls there is no entry to join Indian Defence forces with NDA scheme. So, few important ways especially for girls to join Army, Naval or Air forces are listed below.
CDS : One must have a bachelor degree from a government recognised university and age should be between 19-25. This exam is conducted twice a year by UPSC. After one year training at OTA(Officers Training Academy), Chennai, one will be appointed as a permanent commissioned officer.
NCC special entry : One must possess a bachelor degree with minimum 50 percent and aged between 1925 with a NCC 'C' certificate After applying in this category, one will be shortlisted for SSB interview directly.
TGC(Technical Graduate Course) : One has to complete their graduation with B.E or B.TECH. In this entry, two ways are possible.
Only a BOY can opt TGC who is aged between 20-27
For girls SSC is another option. For this, one should be aged between 19-25.
UES(University Entry Scheme) : This scheme is only for BOYS to join Indian Army.
JAG Entry : It is specially for law graduates who have attained more than 55 percent in their graduation and aged between 21-27.
AFCAT(Air Force Common Admission Test) : This entry is for all flying, technical, and ground duty of Indian Air Force. For this, one should have completed twelfth standard with Maths and Physics with minimum of 60 percent. This notification is released twice a year. For three duties there are three possible ways.
Flying Branch : One who applies for this category should be aged between 19-23 and should have bachelor degree in any discipline.
Technical branch : One who has a bachelor degree of either B.E or B.TECH and aged between 18-28 can apply.
Ground Duty : One who has completed graduation in any discipline and aged between 20-23 can apply for ground duty.
Coming to the selection procedure, it is the same as CDS. First of all written examination, 5 days of Interview conducted by AFSB(Air Force Selection Board). Final merit list will be releases after medical check up.
CDSE : Through this entry only boys can apply for the flying branch.
NCC Entry : As told earlier, One can also join Indian Air Force through NCC Entry by having NCC 'C' certificate.
CDSE and SSC : These entries for Naval force are only for male candidates. For SSC, one should have a bachelor's degree with statistics as a compulsory subject.
SNAES(Special Naval Architecture Entry Scheme) : Everyone who have completed their B.E or B.TECH with minimum 60 percent and aged between 20-25 can apply for Naval Forces with SNAES.
