FDDI has got its name as the institute began by specialising in Footwear Design. But now it has retail,leather & goods and fashion discipline. It belongs to the central government. It has 12 campuses,headquarters is situated in Noida. Other campuses are Furstaganj,Rohtak,Chhindwara,Jodhpur,Chennai,Hyderabad,Guna,Ankleshwar,Patna,Chandigarh and Kolkata. There are mainly 4 courses,they are B.Des in Footwear and Production Design,Fashion Design and Leather Goods & Accessories Design. Then comes BBA and MBA in Retail and Fashion Merchandising and M.Des in Footwear Design and CAD/CAM.

Mode of Admission:All India Selection Test(AIST) mainly held in 3rd week of May and registration begin by November.

SOFT,Pune is a premier Institute for women who wish to pursue their higher studies in fashion discipline. It is situated in Pune,Maharashtra. There are both UG and PG courses. UG courses are Bachelor of Design(B.Des) in Fashion Design,Fashion Communication and Textile Design. There is an international 3-year programme of Fashion Design in tie up with Accademia di Costume e di Moda,Rome,Italy. PG courses are Diploma in Fashion Buying & Merchandising and Diploma in Fashion Brand Design & Technology,both are 2 year diploma courses.

Mode of Admission:SOFT Common Entrance Test(CET) usually held in May 1st week.

Indian Institute of Technology

IIT’s are familiar to us but only some of us know that IIT’s offer design program also. Mainly there are 4 campuses which offer BDes. They are Bombay,Guwahati,Hyderabad and Jabalpur Campus. Only students from Physics,Chemistry and Maths Background can apply in 4 Institutes.Other students are eligible to apply in Bombay,Hyderabad and Jabalpur. Industrial Design,Visual Communication,Animation Design,Interaction & Mobility and Vehicle Design are offered here. Master of Design(M.Des) course is also available here.

Mode of Admission:UCEED Entrance.
