As years passed by science grew to branch out its deepest secrets and mysteries in the form of theories and experiments. From the discovery of an atom to landing on the moon, scientists and researchers have left no stone unturned. It's interesting how science pushes you forward to dig deep into facts and discover more. It's a never-ending journey. It encourages you to ask questions and think about infinite possibilities. Until a few days ago we had no idea if the black hole existed (I truly wanted it to) and suddenly there's no more raising doubts and questioning about it. It is real and we know it.
Space has been quite a controversial and intriguing subject for humans. There are infinite possibilities and things that are yet to be discovered. But have you ever wonder what would happen to our body in the space especially without a spacesuit?
The environment is different in space compared to earth. If ever this happened. This is what the consequences will be. It is the earth due to which we are living peacefully. Earth has two elements that differentiate it from other planets and probably why there's life. It's due to the oxygen and the ozone layer that protects us from the deadly radiation and UV rays. In space there is no oxygen, no ozone to protect us from gamma rays, no gravity and the place is just vacuum.
You might be alive but within 15 seconds to 2 minutes. our brain will start to shut down due to lack of oxygen and you'll fall unconscious. And even if that doesn't happen the UV rays and radiation will make you suffer from deadly sunburns. And again It is said that our body should explode due to the high pressure of vacuum in the space but that doesn't happen. Instead, your body will start to swell and probably wouldn't explode because your skin is quite stretchy. It can be really painful though. And if in case you are thinking that holding your breath would save you. It won't. The air in your lungs would expand leaving no way for it to go causing you an immediate death.
So that's there. Now you are dead. You must be wondering what would happen to your body? You must have observed in cartoons how they levitate in the air, well that happens for real and the reason is lack of gravity. A floating body in the space? yes! and if you are wondering why hasn't my body frozen yet? well, it will but it might take a thousand years for your body to get frozen and then probably be decomposed.
whereas if you do have a space suit due to the exhaled air and heat of your body inside the suit it will naturally decompose but after a certain point there would be no oxygen left for the bacteria so even they will die and the body will switch to fermentation (a biological process where decomposing takes place without oxygen ).
But there is a possibility that the floating body inside the suit might explode due to the atmospheric pressure inside.
So well, that's how you would end up dying in space!
Don't worry it's just a hypothetical situation!
