Minimalism or the opposite state of possessing unnecessary items, is quite an alien idea to many of the people in modern age. Minimalism, deriving from “minimal” stands for multiple meanings to various persons. It can be “the process of defining what is essential while eliminating the rest”. Joshua Becker termed minimalism as ‘intentional promotion of things we value the most’ while removing everything that distracts us from it.

Since we are always ready with thousands of options, minimalism can be the cause of organization. Instead of numerous choices it’s better to decide; is that truly necessary? Moreover popularity of minimalism is increasing due to its functional approach.

• With the prize rise, people are overworking trying their best to buy different items which are not at all necessary. This approach helps us to understand the bitter truth of advertising market, how they are hoarding us with items not at all relevant.

• It gives us the opportunity to see the bright side of life, by Eliminating the unnecessary, we won’t be distracted and then we can focus on our life as it is.

• Minimalism brings end to the obsession of more. More money, cars, houses, smartphones, fame, material objects are the significant aspects, people focus on, while forgetting the true meaning of life. We are stressing our life for the sake of this mad competition of getting a better life style. We can start with everyday items like clothes, households ending with bigger commitment. According to Leo Babuata, “Minimalism is an extension of simplicity” which inspires us to live a life in the most simplistic way. Founders of ‘The Minimalist’ believe minimalism to be a way of finding “happiness, fulfilment and freedom”. In order to react against ‘more problem’,minimalism can be the solution; here are the steps one can follow;

• Understand your priority

• Value time and human more than materials

• Say no to the things that hardly contribute to your lifestyle.

• Stop comparing your life to others.

Minimalism inspires to consume less, and with the rapid use of resources and over population, less is always welcoming. With millions of ideas to think about people are hardly interested to devote much time in deciding petty things. So it’s better to cut the options and stick with the one necessary.

As Tyler Durden of Fight club has suggested “the things you own, end up owning you”.With rapid increase of materialistic market, it’s better to revolt now than regretting later.
