“IPL fixed hai”
“CSK team ne paise liye hain”
I’m pretty sure you have been at least once on the receiving end of these lines or maybe you were the one to say these.

But is fixing real? Read on to find out
A cricket match is said to be fixed when the end result is partially or fully pre determined. Well it is not always about the end results, Fixing can also be done to hamper the in between of an inning for example fixing 2 or 3 particular over’s where bowler will give for say 20 runs or more which can be a turning point for the game or fixing a batsmen’s wicket or ask him to play slowly and disrupt the required run rate.

Well there is one more method where people fix the game
The difference between live match and live broadcasting is about 8 seconds so these bookies basically have a person who is in stadium and tell them about each ball and the bookies fix the next ball in that 8 seconds passage.

Now let’s talk about spot fixing, well spot fixing is different than match fixing, in spot fixing one or more players are fixed by the bookies to play according to them. For example they will be asked to give a fixed numbers of run or play in a fixed slow run rate or will be asked to get their team mate out by run out or anything. So basically in this form of fixing corrupt players narrow the chances of victory of the favourable team. It is also very difficult to detect the game is fixed because everything looks so natural and it is not expected that a batsmen getting his team mate run out is fixed. Spot Fixing came into existence in the 2010 Pakistan tour of England where Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir bowled no balls on a particular delivery and tampered the spirit of the game. This also involved the then Pakistan Captain Salman Butt. As a result, Salman Butt was banned for ten years, Mohammad Asif for seven years and Mohammad Amir for five years. As fixing the game is illegal, in November 2011, Butt was sentenced to 30 months' imprisonment, with Asif being imprisoned for one year and Amir sentenced for six months.

In India, in IPL 2013 edition 3 players Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila were arrested for the matter of spot fixing. Along with them 11 bookies were also arrested by the Delhi Police.

So in my opinion Fixing is illegal and bad, it hampers the spirit of the game and at least players should not get involved in such activity and they should stay loyal towards the game and respect it because the end result of involvement in corrupt activity is end of career and all the hard work that was done over the years is wasted.
