Shopping preferences vary widely between one consumer and another. Many are of the opinion that shopping centres provide the optimal consumer experience. Others, however, prefer local markets. Let’s compare both.

These days shopping centres have become increasingly popular local markets because of different advantages they offer. Many people select shopping mall due to the better environment and variety of shops at a single place. For busy people time-saving is the key factor and they more frequently go to shopping malls than local market. As shopping malls provide a variety of goods under one quality and ensure better quality rich consumers prefer to buy products from them. Moreover, the environment of shopping malls is way better than that of local markets. Convenient ways of payment methods, such as credit cards, is another great advantage that most shopping malls offer. Since plastic money offer more security and convenient ways of shopping, people prefer to go to a shopping centre where these types of payments are accepted.

For example, while living in Dubai, one often went to the City Centre mall because I could buy a wide variety of products there, including electronics, food, and clothing. As such an electric offering of goods is typically not available in local markets, the benefits behind patronising shopping centres can be seen. It is thus understandable why many people support the idea that shopping centres are the better way to buy any goods.

However, the above view is not supported by everyone. Many feels local markets provide the buyer with fresher produce and more authentic items. Thus, although Dubai’s City entre provides convenience, the freshness of its perishable goods is no match for local markets in Dubai, like the Deira spice Souk. At this work, food items are often harvested, shipped and sold within 24 hours.

Local markets offer a wide range of advantages and products to people. At the same time, the price differences are another reason many people still prefer local markets over shopping centres. It is thus clear why many deem the merits of local markets superior to those of shopping malls.

After the above examination, it is clear that both shopping experiences have clear benefits. Shopping centres and local markets both offer different positive experiences to the customers and both need to be in form because of their different benefits. Although local markets provide the market provide the most authentic items and freshest foodstuffs, I personally most value convenient and thus prefer to shop at shopping centres. For the time being, it loos as there is steady patronage to both shopping arrangements.
