Sales is a subset of marketing or it is a part of marketing.

WHERE AS SALES IS CONCERNED WITH SELLING THE PRODUCT WHICH IS OFFERED TO THE CUSTOMER AT A CERTAIN PRICE, AT A GIVEN PERIOD OF TIME.
SALES DOESN’T CONCERN ABOUT WHETHER THE CUSTOMER NEEDS THE PRODUCT OR NOT.
IT SIMPLY FOCUS ON TURNING THE SHOPPERS INTO BUYERS,IN ORDER TO SELL MORE PRODUCTS
AND THEREBY MAKING PROFITS TO THE COMPANY.
BUT WHY PEOPLE OFTEN THINK THAT MARKETING AND SALES ARE SAME
BECAUSE MOST OF THE PEOPLE WE MET IN OUR DAILY LIFE ARE FROM SALES DEPARTMENT OF ANY COMPANY .
Let us understand this with an example
consider any FMCG company.
After manufacturing any product it has to reach the customers through a distribution channel.
If for manufacturing the products ,20 people are required.
And for the same products to reach the customer more than 80 people are required in the sales department.
That why we can see more number of sales person in the market.
This is the only reason that most of the people think that marketing and sales are the same thing.
From this we can conclude that
1.Marketing and sales are not same
2. Marketing deals with so many aspects.
3.Sales is one of the aspects of marketing.
