Mcleodganj: Best Place To Visit In Summer

It's summer time and vacations are on the way. Not only children but even adults eagerly wait for the summer vacations to escape the heat and the best places where one can escape the heat are hill stations .

The cool Breeze ,sightseeing, beautiful landscapes ,snow ,adventure sports are some common things people would love to do in summer and this all can be found in Mcleodganj, Himachal Pradesh.

How to reach :
One can find various ways to reach the destination but the best way to reach are the overnight sleeper and semi sleeper AC Volvo buses from Delhi whose reservation can be made online. Direct trains to Mcleodganj are not available because of hilly area but one can easily find buses and Cabs from Pathankot (nearest railway station) from where it is only 4 hours road journey. Flights are available from Delhi to Kangra from where it is one and a half hour journey via road.

To stay :
Mcleodganj offers moderate range of hotels. As it is in Himachal,one needs to be close to nature so Mcleodganj doesn't provide very luxurious Hotel but you can find good range of moderate hotels mostly in budget.

Best places to visit:

• Bhagsunag waterfall

It is one of the main centre of attraction of the place. There's a small trek to the waterfall along with the beautiful view and river flowing alongside. After reaching the top there is a Shiva Cafe where one can relax and experience the beautiful natural ambience.

• Dharamkot

It is located just above the Mcleodganj on the crest of a hill. It is an attractive place where one can experience the view of beautiful Dhauladhar mountain ranges ,Kangra valley, snow and cafes. It is also famous for meditation.

• Triund Hill Top(Triund Trekking)

It is one of the famous treks of Himachal where you can enjoy snow covered hill top along with beautiful view. Camping and bonfires are also enjoyed on the top.

• Dal lake

Lake which is named after the famous Dal lake of Srinagar and is situated just 3-4 kilometres from the Mcleodganj town. The lake evwn freezes in winter and serves as a major tourist spot. During summer it serves a cool spot for picnic while surrounded with Deodar trees .

Along with these places many monasteries are also situated in and near Mcleodganj. Namgyal monastery is one of them which is situated near the Dhauladhar mountain ranges, it is also the residence of the Dalai Lama. Kareri lake is a beautiful lake and is also a trekking place. Norbulingka Institute is a centre for practicing lost Tibetian art and craft which is also near Mcleodganj.

Best time to visit:
Mcleodganj is famous all around the year so if you want to see the snow then one should visit in December-February and in summer May-August is best.
