Assam is one among India's mighty Seven Sisters . It shares its boundaries with all the other North-Eastern states connecting it to all the wonders of each state. It is well known for its deep rooted unique cultures and traditions , the wide spectrum of flora and fauna and its many beautiful landmarks to visit. The name Assam is derived from the Ahom word " Axom" meaning the land like no other. Its capital Dispur is a suburb of Guwahati which is Assam's largest city connecting the North-East Frontier to the Indian Mainland. Guwahati is the main commercial hub of the state and is a renowned historic city of the famed Brahmaputra River Civilisation. The other important urban regions of the state include Tezpur, Tinsukia and Jorhat. These regions are famed for their tea plantations and oil refineries. Assam is known for its lush greenery and wildlife. This is due to its bounty of large, rich forests and numerous tea plantations and paddy fields. The landscape of the state mainly comprises of the vast Brahmaputra plains, Cachar hills and the Barak valley in south. Assam experiences four seasons during the course of the year. The winter season is sunny and dry, with cold nights ranging from mid- November to March making it ideal for travel. April to May - the temperature increases and summer is from June to September when it is very hot and humid.

Apart from the ecological diversity , the state also has a has a very diverse ethnical spectrum consisting of many indigenous communities and tribes. This diversity is also reflected in their art and culture , the most famous being their textiles. The Assamese people are skilled weavers and their well renowned traditional outfit Mekhela Sador is very popular.

With its magical forests , large tea estates, the beautiful banks along the Brahmaputra river, the varied wildlife , there is a lot to explore in Assam.
