“The most troublesome subjects are often explained to the foremost stupid man if he has not fashioned any plan of them already; however the best factor can not be created clear to the foremost intelligent man if he's firmly persuaded that he is aware ofalready, while not a shadow of doubt, what's ordered before him.”

Why don't facts change our minds?

And why would somebody still believe a false or inaccurate plan anyway?

Humans need a reasonably accurate view of the world in order to survive. If your model of reality is wildly different from the actual world, then you struggle to take effective actions each day.

However, truth and accuracy are not the only things that matter to the human mind. Humans also seem to have a deep desire to belong.

Understanding the reality of a scenario is very important, but so is remaining part of a tribe.

While these two desires often work well together, they occasionally come into conflict.

In many circumstances, social connection is actually more helpful to your daily life than understanding the truth of a particular fact or idea.

We don't perpetually believe things as a result of they're correct.

Sometimes we have a tendency to believe things as a result of they create us look smart to the folks we have a tendency to care concerning.

The mind is typically, like tiny kid, you know who, accepts, and takes as a right, no matter it sees or hears, while not judgment and while not considering the results. If you let your mind behave during this manner, giving it complete freedom to leap from one thought to a different, you lose your freedom.

We are perpetually flooded with thoughts, concepts and data returning through the 5 senses, others, the newspapers and television. These thoughts, concepts and data penetrate the mind, whether or not we tend to are awake to this method or not.

Most people assume and believe that their thoughts originate from them, however have you ever ever stopped and thought of whether or not your thoughts, desires, likes and dislikes are very yours? Did it occur to you that perhaps they came from the skin, from others, and you've got unconsciously accepted them as your own?

Convincing somebody to vary their mind is de facto the method of convincing them to vary their tribe.

If they abandon their beliefs, they run the risk of losing social ties.

You can’t expect somebody to vary their mind if you are taking away their community too.

You have to give them somewhere to go. Nobody wants their worldview torn apart if loneliness is the outcome.
