I often wonder why the rainbow is a symbol of happiness and beauty, I mean since when did people refer to something having different shades to beauty?
Predominantly skin color of a Human being defines his/her worth in the society they live in.
Colorism or shadeism means discrimination on the basis of the skin color of a person.
People are treated differently just because of the varied skin colors they have. The custom of colorism has been breathing in the culture (of various countries ) since centuries. Evidently, it took birth in western countries. A much hatred towards the black color was shown by the light skin colored people.
Due to the difference of color or I would say due to the darkness of the shade people were enslaved and were deprived of every human right ever existed.

What happened after is now available on all over the internet. Around 7 million black skinned people were exported to western countries for slavery in 17th-century.
Ever thought what is the skin color of a goddess?
In the ancient text like Mahabharata, there were both light and dark skinned heroes and deities.
They were celebrated regardless of the color of their skin. But now when we see movies or Dramas based on the ancient text we often find heroes and heroines as light skinned and the villain as dark skinned. In a novel by Chitra Banerjee titled The palace of illusions, it's written that Draupadi ( a very famous character of Indian mythology named Mahabharata) was a dark-skinned lady but in today's movies/Drama her character is shown as a light-skinned woman.
When did this happen? When did the skin color of a character change with the passage of time?
Well, it happened on a large scale when India was intruded by Britishers. With the course of time, the colonial government taught Indians how light-skinned people were superior to dark-skinned ones.
India was freed by the colonial government after 200 years, by the time they mixed colorism in the blood of the population of the country.
Movements
Various movements across the world were started to fight against shadeism, Black is beautiful

is a cultural movement which was started by African-Americans in united states in the 1960s it led to many more movements like Black consciousness movement in South America and Brown paper bag test within the African-American community.

The fire of revolt also intruded India, the government made several changes to kill colorism. Article 14 of the Constitution which says Equality before the law, means that the State will treat people in the same circumstances alike, it means no person shall be treated differently is circumstance are same.
Article 15 of the Constitution guarantees social equality regardless of caste, religion, gender, sex, and color.

Even after alterations in the law and inspite of various movements, colorism has still occupied a large area in the human brain, it's actually inherited by the youth.
And now colorism is also a foundation of one of the largest industries in the world - the beauty industry.
These industries know exactly how to make money by using people's insecurity of their skin color.
Through various advertisement, we are taught that light skin is something which we should crave for and how the dark skin is always referred to something evil.
These industries earn billions of dollars by promoting colorism.Statistics are proof that girls are affected more by shadeism, they hate themselves for not having light-colored skin and often attempt suicide.Isn't it unbelieve how deeply we have learned shadeism, how easily we have accepted that we need color to define our worth, to measure our success.
Humans are more than their color!
It's time to unlearn colorism.
It's time for us to stop drowning in the ocean of doubts, flowing with million drops towards a direction unknown.
It’s time for us to stop ourselves from Happily Trying to hide the sheet of our body, and still, frowning from inside.
It's time for us to stop Turning our skin into a different shade to be loved.
often we forget how beautiful is the house In which our soul lives.
How beautifully with different colors of the rainbow we make it (our soul) shrink to fit in a place not belonging to it.
