'So,which course have you opted for?'one of my friends asked me. We were sitting in our favourite couch of the restaurant and relishing our food.

'Btech in Biotechnology' came the prompt reply. For few seconds all of them were staring at me and all I could hear was Halsey singing ' Closer'.Then everyone started laughing. They thought I was pulling their leg. In their perspective, Biotechnology was just a course taken if there were no other options ( like it's such a lame course,'why would you want to take a course which doesn't provide you enough job opportunities?').

It's been a year and I have not regretted taking this course at all. Though I, like other students ,have complained about the workload,my love for this course has increased many folds. My poor friends, they don't know the net worth of Kiran Mazumder Shaw, the goddess of Indian Biotech.

Biotechnology is not only biology but also has an essence of technology. We do not only learn aspects of biology but we also learn various coding languages such as python,c and c++ .As opposed to classical biology, Biotechnology is all about modern biology. We are discovering ourself and the world around and beyond us, not only theoretically but practically as well.

In fact, few years before in my college my seniors were taught about microprocessors and sensors.
From computer whiz kids to doctorates in maths, from people experienced in sensors to people experienced in robotics, all of them get a chance in some of the finest biotech companies now, such as Biocon and Novozymes.

And Biotechnology essentially means the integration of basic biology and various other aspects of engineering.

After all, isn't this the era of Biology? For each and every problem ,we try to find out a solution which is biologically inspired and favoured. Even robots are inspired to think like human beings.

And what are we ,if we are not one of bio- inspired creations???
So ,after one year ,my answer is ' Yes, Biotechnology and I gel together, and yeah we are inseparable.'
