Before Choosing Your Degree

As the title says, today we will talk on how we can choose the right educational degree.

So just question yourself, what factors do we consider before choosing the degree to pursue?

1. What is the mass doing?

2. Which is the most valued degree?

3. What are the options available in our preferred region?

I guess, these are the main factors. But we all miss thinking about the right set of factors like

1.Our ultimate goal, where or how do we want to see our self someday, our passion.

2.The sub-goals needed to fulfill that ultimate goal.

3.Things required to fulfil those sub-goals.

4.Options available.

Before choosing our educational degree, it is important to consider the above mentioned factors. Because only these factors can help us to choose the right degree. The reason why a huge mass, today, is either unemployed or under paid in comparison to what they deserve is the lack of planning for the long term. Most of us follow the mass. As a result we make a wrong decision and ultimately we fail. And by the time when we realize that we chose the wrong path, we are late.

Let me tell share with you my own experience:

When I chose MBA as my master’s degree, there were 364 other students along with me in the same batch in the same college. During the orientation, the first question asked to us was “Why an MBA?”, “Why do you want to become an MBA?” And you won’t believe but hardly 5 to 7 out of the lot of 365 students could answer to those questions. Astonishing, isn’t it? Majority of us didn’t know, why at all we were sitting into that hall. As a consequence, today, if you see, there are only a few who are actually justifying their degrees. Some of us started jobs at low salary, some took up a job but left being depressed, some prepared for Govt exams, some are still trying to settle their business whereas some are struggling to get some work even today and most of the girls are merely housewives. So you see, this all seems like a wastage of time, money and all the hard work you put in to become an MBA. And this is not just about MBA, not even about a degree, it is more about anything, any activity that we choose to invest our time and effort into.

Thus, I will conclude saying

It is important to discover our ultimate destination before choosing the path.
