In the recent year many companies have made huge strides forward in eSports with Battle Royal games like Tencent the makers of the famous PUBG.The eSports industry is going to absolutely blow up — I’m sure of it! In 2017, eSports revenue reached nearly 700 million and it’s predicted that by 2020, that number will grow to a whopping $1.5 billion. And the number of people globally aware of eSports is currently at 1.6 billion globally. That is expected to increase to two billion by 2021—more than a quarter of the world’s population.Esports really originated in South Korea in the early 2000s, where competitive gaming culture was born thanks to having fast internet, high connectivity rates, and a relatively high unemployment rate in the youth. Since then, eSports has consumed the country and other parts of Asia. The Asia-Pacific region accounts for roughly 53% of all eSports enthusiasts in 2018.Esports is becoming more and more popular in Indian youth. Gaming centers and cafes are sprouting up all over the country, giving gamers a physical space in their community to play video games and meet other gamers.Large-scale eSports events, tournaments, and leagues are happening all over the country, including PUBG ,CS:GO, and others. Esports is cementing itself into modern-day culture quickly and we only expect this to grow more over the next few years. Within the next ten years, more and more eSports pro gamers will be household names, and gaming championships will be just as popular as the Super Bowl or the World Cup.Esports, and gaming in general, will become more recognized as a fun activity or something similar to that, instead of merely an addiction. It will begin to be seen as an actual job by adults.
