Dogs are obviously Man's best friend and probably the only companions that don't reject people at any cost. Usually people opt some common breeds like German shepherd, Bull dog, Labrador, Pug, Husky, Beagle, Rott weiler, Pomeranian, Doberman.

Let's take a look at some of the rare breeds that deserve more attention.

1. Otterhound (UK)

They are referred to as "clowns" as they have a great sense of humour. They were originally bred for hunting. Now the count is less than 700.

2. Bedlington terrier (England)

They look fluffy, cute and resemble sheep to some extent. They are irresistible cuddly TV-time companions. They are also athletic. Right for your mood!

3. Puli (Hungary)

Yeah, Puli is a dog breed that has a mop like appearance. They are known as "the Acrobat of the dog world". They like to be the centre of attention and are quick learners.

4. Rajapalayam (South India)

They are aggressive and initially used for hunting. They are one person pets and don't get along with other pets. Socialization while they are puppies can change this behaviour. They are vulnerable and will extinct soon if no efforts are taken.

5. Pekingese (China)

They are known as miniature dogs or toy dogs. They were initially grown in elite families of China. They are charming, confident and can tolerate children for a while (short tempered when roughly handled!).
