Choosing toiletries and cosmetics have turned out to be quite a task these days. The more you look, the more variety of products you come across, each better than the other. As each day passes, more and more developments are being introduced into the world of cosmetics. Well one such useful and rational invention is that of the –“Shampoo Bar”.

These bars are concentrated pucks of shampoo that can last up to 80 washes (that covers the usage of 2-3 liquid shampoo bottles). They’re also endowed with fresh ingredients and various essential oils that’ll leave you with healthy and gorgeous locks of hair.

However, the use of ingredients in these products can serve as a point to ponder upon. Many of the cosmetic brands may include non-skin friendly or even slightly harmful ingredients. Hair being an important element that contributes to self confidence, it shouldn’t be risked upon. So here’s a method to make your own shampoo bars at home (that’s super-easy and pocket friend 😉)

Let’s get into it!

What’s required?
1.One lb Melt and pour soap base
2.Half tbsp Shea butter/ coconut oil
3.Half tbsp Olive oil
4.Half tbsp Sweet almond oil or Vanilla extract
5.Essential oils
6.Silicone mould

·You can use either almond soap base (good hair moisturizer) or even milk flavoured soap base.

·Shea butter and Olive oil – helps to rejuvenate dry and damaged hair, Strengthens hair
·Essential oils – helps prevent hair loss and dandruff

Steps

1.First step is to cut the soap base into small cubes.
2.Melt the cubes either in the stove in a low flame (by placing the bowl of soap base over a milk pan). You can also microwave it in 15 seconds intervals so that it doesn’t boil over.

3.Once it’s melted, add Shea butter and mix it properly.
4.Pour olive oil and sweet almond oil into the mixture and continue mixing it.
5.Lastly add about 20 drops of lavender oil and another 10 drop of any other essential oil you like and give the mixture a final whisk.

6.Now pour the mix into the silicone moulds and air dry them for 2-3hours.
7.And the Shampoo bars are good to use!
·In order to get rid of the air bubbles, spray rubbing alcohol loves the mix before you air dry it.
