Historyofhospet :
Hospet is old form of hosapete. Hospet is a famous historical place situated on the Tungabhadra.Tungabhatra placed in the bellary district of Karnataka.The city is believed to be built by the great king Krishnan deva raya, of Vijayanagara in 1520 AD.
The city was named Nagalapura, but many people referred as “Hosa pete”. The meaning of the word is “New city”. Laterly the city was renamed as Hospet.
Hospet is well known for its tourist destination. Being closer to Bellari and Hampi. The famous Tungabhatra Dam is located here. Being in the northern Karnataka contains manyarchitectural marvels of the greatruler of vijayanagara empire.

The nearest airport is in Bellary which is 75km away from Hospet. Other airportslocated nearby are in Bangalore which is about350km and Belaum which is 200km.

The city has its own railway station which is well connected to other laces.

BEST TIME TO VISIT HOSPET:
Besttime to visit hampi is from October to February as the temperature is pleasant throughoutthe day .You can also visit during the monsoon season ,but you have to be careful while walking on the boulders as they become quite slippery .Avoidvisiting hampi in summers, as it is scorchingand dry.
