Avengers: A Postmodern Take On Infinity Stones And War

Postmodernism is commonly regarded as a rejection of all the ideas presented by modernism and as it arrived it tried to reshape the theories of modernism. Postmodernism appears to be a spoilt child of modernism which is always sceptical, ironical and critical of the known truths. It defies to associate with many types and thus is capable of breaking the barriers between high and low art cultures.

In respect of postmodernism ‘Avengers Infinity War’ is a perfect example of implying Postmodern Motifs like Hyperreality i.e., Technologically created realities are often more authentic or desirable then the real world, The altered States i.e., Drugs, mental illness, less and technology provide a dark, often psychedelic, gateway to new internal realities, More Human than Human i.e., Artificial intelligence, robotics and cybernetics seek to enhance or replace, humanity and Time Bending i.e., Time travel provides another way to shape reality and play "what if" games with society. In the present day world of highly advanced technologies to create virtual reality makes the creating of a hyper-real world very easy. ‘Avengers Infinity War’ is entirely built on the basis of VFX (Visualeffects) but it a Bricolage. Each character portrayed in this film is a result of Bricolage at many extents as Bricolage is the skill of using whatever is there and recombining them to create something new.
E.g., Spiderman- A super hero attributed with properties of spider and human both, Ironman- A superhero using advanced weaponry and armour fitted in Suit, Dr Strange- A magician-superhero who is a doctor but acquires magical skills in order to become the saviour of the world. Creating a plot in the hyperreal world often becomes problematic as the main focus in such movies are to use perfect techniques in order to give authenticity to the plot. Avengers Infinity War has a highly complicated plot drawing plot lines from the previous Marvel Superhero movies. However,Infinity Waras the title itself is very symbolic as the major theme of the movie revolves around a villain trying to deal with
Overpopulation in a merciful manner, as Thanos (the supervillain,) calls it. The problem of overpopulation is actually a kind of war which can never find any ending or solution. Thanos is seeking all the infinity stones spread all over the universe in order to become the most powerful creature in the whole Universe.

The theory behind infinity stones also holds importance on many extents. The stones are: Power Gem – Increases physical strength and durability, enhances superhuman ability, as well as can do energy manipulation. It is kind of a power source for other gems as well.
