We women demanding for change and transformation in this world that we live in. Now if i may ask, what change are we actually referring to??

Empowering the women and the question of equality and justice have been a talk of every town i suppose, several surveys have been conducted just to prove certain facts about the disrespectful nature of this world towards women. Having said that the crimes and the ongoing injustice against women particularly in a country like India has been taken care of lately, various laws, judgements, opportunities, rules and number of other safety measures have been taken just to provide the women a safer environment for themselves. Now is that really an initiative to provide the women a safer environment or is it just a fancy way to sweep the issue of ‘women empowerment’ under the table? To be able to answer such questions and for wanting to have things to be in a certain way all we need is change, and that change is we ourselves.

The bifurcation of jobs under the category of ‘men’ and ‘women’ is the reason why we all are still living under the pressure of the social structure called patriarchy. All those people asking the women to be home early before it is too late, asking them to be ideal, to be the sacrificers, to find their other half soon and get settled, to not wear inappropriate and revealing clothes and lot’s of other restricting favours, all I want to ask them is why not lock men after it’s dark, why not ask them to be all ideal and sacrificing, why not keep him under the veil? One may have the answers to all questions if we changed the way we think and the way we look, instead of complaining, blaming and pointing out the miseries around us perhaps we should try and change ourselves in order to be a part of a sustained world. Even the women should stop waiting for their other halves because they are no half, they should be the ones standing up for themselves instead of asking themselves ‘why’. It is high time that we women ought to ask questions rather than giving answers, the only person that a woman is supposed to prove to is she herself.

Now it is for us to decide whether it’ll be one day or day one.
