Are we really alone?
Ever looked up at the sky and wondered that someone far away from our planet are also looking up at the sky and wondering are we the only species who has life in the whole universe.

The universe was born 13.4 billion years ago. It was born because of the phenomena which by most of the scientist is called the Big Bang. According to this theory, before the universe there was only dark space with only matter in it. At that time the space was in a very high density and high temperature state. After some time an explosion took place for less than 5 seconds and during that short time the universe was born and from then according to the scientists, the universe is expanding more than the speed of light

According to the reports collected by the Hubble telescope there are more than 100 trillion galaxies in the observable universe. Observable universe is term given to the region of the Universecomprising all matter that can be observed from Earth or its space-based telescopes and exploratory probes at the present time, because electromagnetic radiation from these objects has had time to reach the Solar System and Earth since the beginning of the cosmological expansion or the big bang.

What’s beyond the observable universe is still yet to be discovered.
So the question remains are we really alone in the universe?
Among all 100 trillion galaxies and a total of many zillion stars and planets is Earth the only planet to support life?

Well according to scientists there is a theory which will help you to understand why we haven’t confronted any alien.

The theory is called the Fermi Paradox named after the famous scientist Enrico Fermi who was the first to propose this theory.

According to Enrico Fermi there are over billions of stars like our sun in our own Milky Way galaxy and it is assumed that some of this stars may have earth like planets in its solar system which can support extraterrestrial and intelligent life on it, similarly other galaxies also must have planets which can support intelligent life on it.

So why we have not yet met any extraterrestrial life or didn’t even discover any source of life in the space.

Well if we try to look out for them with our current technology it is nearly impossible for us to look out of our local group which consists of 43 other galaxies including our Milky Way. With our current technology it will take us billions of years only just to reach from one end to another end of our own galaxy.

But let’s assume there are civilization out there what will they look like?
Will they be much more advance than us or they just have started to find out the meaning of life which means they are very backward from us.

According to scientists civilization is divided into three categories

1. Type one civilization

A type one civilization is able to access all the energy and resources available on their planet, in case you’re wondering Earth is on 0.73 on the scale and it is assumed that we will reach type 1 in couple of hundred years

2.Type 2 civilization
This type of civilization is capable of harnessing the energy of its home star. Yeah it sounds like science fiction but it is possible through some principles like creating something like a dyson sphere a giant complex surrounding the sun will be enough to harness its energy.

3.Type 3 civilization
This type of civilization basically harnesses energy from its own galaxy and also controls it. This type of civilization is basically like god to us.

So if there is this type of life out there which are there before us, so why haven’t we find them.

This is where Fermi paradox comes into work
According to the theory there are filters in the universe which doesn’t lets the civilization to exist after a certain amount of time, which means when they are able to use all there resources the filter comes and destroys the whole civilization so that a new civilization can be born. The filter is known as the Great Filter. So it can be that only one civilization can live in the universe at a time that’s why we haven’t seen any alien yet.

According to some scientists we are the only civilization to get pass the Great filter that also means that we are also the most advanced and the only civilization in the universe and nobody beside us were able to get pass the great filter and that’s also the reason that we haven’t met any extraterrestrial life yet because we are the only intelligent species who survived the great filter and now we are alone.

But there is a possibility that the great filter is ahead of us and we’ve just about to meet it and get destroyed. According to this theory, once a civilization reaches ‘Type 3’ it does something foolish that destroys its whole civilization like AI controlling our world or Powerful Nuclear wars everywhere and many more.

So according to the Fermi theory it is just impossible for you to escape the filter after you reach ‘Type 3’.

So what will happen if there is a type 3 civilization out there in the space somewhere?
There are two possible answers
1st they know about us but they are too advanced so they overlooked us because we cannot offer anything to them, they already have everything and looks us like we are some very backward people.

2nd they are always watching us and when we will be becoming a threat to them the will destroy us so that no civilization can exists which can overpower them.

So it’ll be better for us to not to search for any alien life because, who knows what will happen when they’ll know about us or when we know about them.
