Are Blood, Bones and Sparks enough for a successful game?

Mortal Kombat was never about the story. It's the way how men are supposed to kill their friends with Brutality. The recent versions are getting a story mode though and this one gives us a time travel story. If you didn't like the avenger’s endgame script, you can give this a try. The game comes with 23 pre-unlocked playable characters each with their unique abilities and dialogue sets. Just like Nintendo games, Mortal Kombat gets better with friends. Who doesn't want to drill through their friend’s head while seeing them cry in Full HD.

The game comes with perfect textures. Blood doesn't flow out like fountains as it did in Sekiro, but its thick and feels reflective and realistic. Bone cracking also feels real. You won't feel the same cracks when the character cracks it with his kick. The X-ray is the feature which sets it apart from the standard fighting games. The story is amusing and wasn't expected; developers have done a great job here. While in story mode we cannot pull fatalities because its a killer move which kills the player. You don't want to end a player while in Story mode. But it replaces the story with a "Lethal Blow" which is another unusual move that can be used mid-game to knock down an enemy temporarily.

Remember the old tradition when characters were unlocked when we defeated the boss. But, MK11 doesn't seem to follow this logic. The story mode will last only 4 hours if you are a so-called Pro gamer. The game wants you to grind your controller (or keyboard). All the characters have a second fatality which can be unlocked by spending Koins (earned by playing the game). Its an excellent game but with some bad points.

What it's supposed to be?

The problems are that MK 11 is supposed to be a multiplayer game played with friends. If you keep on playing it for long durations all alone with CPU, then you are bound to feel bored. The fighting mechanics are not as smooth as the Tekken franchise, but once you have developed muscle memory, it works fine. If you are a casual player who starts smashing all buttons when losing, you will be discovering some unseen Combo's and this might increase your chances of survival.

To conclude, if you are buying MK11 for nostalgia it's okay if you want it to play with friends, definitely go for it.
