With the focus of the average Indian traveller hovering over a handful of selected destinations, it's quite natural that the need for new and unexplored locations are on the rise.
Here's a list of some of my favourite destinations :

It doesn't matter if you're seeking inner peace and quietness or you want your adrenaline pumped up, Pelling has it all. This little-known town in northeast with its lakes, glittery waterfalls, hamlets, monasteries, and remnants of erstwhile rulers.
For an adventure, you could go on a safari to the Kanchenjunga National Park and enjoy the bird’s perspective from Singshore Bridge or you could also explore the history of Rabdentse Ruins. There in fact, are so many places to visit in Pelling, you’d consider extending your vacation !!

With its cozy Tibetan cafes and monasteries, McLeodganj would surely be among your your favorite summer retreats.
Located near Dharamshala, this town with it's cool weather offers the most picturesque view of Dhauladhar range.
Once there, you can visit Bhagsu Falls and the Namgyal Monastery or you could join one of trekking institute which provide training facilities as well as tools for trekking.

Tawang with its Buddhist monasteries, ethnicity of Monpa hamlets and massive rocky yet green mountainous terrain is a treat to the eyes. Warm hospitality and pleasant weather are two primary reasons Tawang has always been a boss at stealing hearts.
Visit the famous Tawang Monastery, spend a peaceful day near the Nuranang Waterfall or pay regards to the military in Tawang War Memorial, all of its worth it !!

Fancy monsoons ? Well, then head straight away to the wettest place on earth. Cherrapunji is incidentally also one of the most unique places for a summer vacation in India. This stunning piece of land is mostly covered by thick clouds and mists and receives a lot of rain.
Do visit and walk on the gorgeous and naturally built Double Decker Living Root Bridge. It’s a UNESCO Heritage Site, which is a must visit. Witness the incredible beauty of Seven Sister Waterfall and Nohkalikai Falls. Go and explore the uniqueness of Mawsmai Cave, which is a limestone cave and find as many fossils as you can.

Coorg is one of those hill stations in Karnataka which has enriching past and is best known for its exotic natural beauty along with delicious cuisine. You will be overwhelmed at the sight of valleys, mountains, and forests as they offer everything worth taking your breath away.
Relax by the calm and peaceful Cauvery and enjoy some watersports as you beat away the summer blues. The gorgeous Iruppu Falls and Unchalli Falls make it a perfect place to visit in India in July.
You could also plan a trip to Igguthappa Temple and Omkareshwara Temple, the famous temples nearby.
