Boruto: Naruto Next Generations or commonly ‘Boruto’ is a Japanese manga and anime series written by Ukyo Kodachi and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto. This anime is a spin-off and sequel to Masashi Kishimoto’s widely famous anime “Naruto”.

The series premiered on TV TOKYO on 5 April 2017and still continues to premiere on Sundays at 5:30pm JST (2:00pm IST). It’s free to watch online at sites like Crunchyroll and animeultima.com.

Boruto is a determined ninja in the series and is determined not to follow in his father’s footsteps and make his own destiny. He faces a lot of hardships and troubles, as his father i.e. Naruto is busy as the Hokage of The Hidden Leaf. He has a grudge against his father but it changes into respect and sympathy when he finds out about his father’s hardships.

The anime has premiered 98 episodes and the last episode was premiered on 17 March, 2019. Boruto has received a lot of mixed critiques. Being a sequel of the popular anime Naruto, it is expected to show a better storyline with more adventure and action. Boruto series also has a lot of spoiler episodes featured which seems pretty boring to some viewers while others say that it is good not only to focus on Boruto but also to the other anime characters. Boruto is currently being assigned to Team 7 under the group captain Konohamaru Sarutobi.

The viewers also think Boruto is lame to watch because there is no major action plot shown till now in the series. It is being compared with Naruto series and is often criticized for being more focused on spoilers. Boruto is being shown in an era after the Fourth Great Ninja War. A time of technological development, mutual relationships between the great nations and lot of people not wanting to become shinobi (ninja) is being depicted as one of the anime’s flaws.

Being an anime lover I can see a lot of potential in Boruto. It still has a long way to go. Though Boruto’s storyline is completely different from Naruto’s both Boruto and Naruto in their respective series are shown as aggressive and ambitious. They have their own Ninja way and their own strength and weaknesses.

Boruto series has not gained a vast number of audience like Naruto series but we can expect to see a plot twist and a lot of action because of the prolepsis shown in the first episode.
