“Sometimes our shadow looks more alike to us than ourselves”. A black and blurry picture following you every time when you are in light is a shadow. A basic definition of shadow can explain a life of a person who is under silhouette or is a shadow himself. Person who acts like a shadow catches up with the trail made by his headman or head-woman.

An individual planning to take up a different role in the same organization may be asked to shadow the current incumbent for a couple of days to a couple of months to get a better idea of his or her role. This helps the individuals who are shadowing to understand the particulars of the job without the commitment of the responsibility. This allows the individual to be more confident, aware, and better prepared to take up the role. For the organization, job training reduces the chances of failure, and reduces the time required for the individual to be fully productive. Here this person is taking up training, thus is in the shadow of a person.

But if we reverse this perspective, we can see some real world instances which happen around us and we even are part of it too. People work under somebody for years as trainees or employees. They don’t either make it to a successful hike or stay stagnant and where they have already been for a long time. Working as a shadow does has its own perks. It complements classroom learning and aspiring leaders get to experience first hand what it takes to be a leader. It involves working with another employee who might have a different job in hand, have something to teach, or be able to help the person shadowing him or her to learn new aspects related to the job, organization, certain behaviors or competencies. But the cons do let a person succeed much.

It’s like a tree over shadowing a small plant. It actually makes the smaller plants look so small that its visibility isn’t that evident. It glorifies the fact of being huge and very significant of his characteristics and its own mightiness.

Younger brothers and sisters are taught to follow their elder ones. They are either forced or motivated to follow the lead by their older pals. They are at times not brought up follow up with what they want. They aren’t able to focus on their capabilities. They aren’t able to explore their talents and build it to excellence.

Shadow becomes a person when all what he has gained is placed efficiently in his life and he leads a path where he grow triumphant in his life. A person feels free and fresh every time he wakes up in the morning and start with the job he loves.
