The father of nation Mahatma Gandhi had said that “Sanitation is more important that independence’ during his time. However it was not so effective and failed because of the incomplete participation of public. After many years of independence the campaign has launched again in a effective attempt. The English meaning of “Nirmal Bharat Abhijan” is clean India mission and abbreviated as GBA or SBM for “Swachh Bharat Mission”. It is a national campaign by the Government of India, covering 4041 statutory cities and towns to clear the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country. The campaign was officially launched on 2nd October, 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi, where the Prime Minister himself cleaned the road by the broom. Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi said that the best memorial to Mahatma Gandhi would be to achieve a “Clean India” by 219 on his 190th birth anniversary. Many office employee and more than 3 million school and college students of India participated in this event. Many celebrities also join this campaign for mass awareness. We all know that Television is the most famous mass media. Many advertisements have also made to make people aware. Because it is every Indian citizen’s responsibility.Not just those who are nominated. But in reality still we can see that people spiting here and there. Today also we can see men throwing dirty things from the Buses. After all this campaign and other effective things, if public consciousness can’t be grown then there will be no value of this. If all young and adult citizen peep their surroundings clean, then the diseases will not spread anymore. If we maintain India clean in villages, slums and crowded areas, the money spent on diseases will be saved for the benefit of home and also for the nation. So we can see that it is a chain system by which we can make our country glorious and keep up its hoary past.
