Communication is the most basic thing in our lives. It is the process of transferring ideas, knowledge, facts, information, exchange of emotions and feeling. It is a vital essence of living life. It is the process of expressing ourselves. We communicate with ourselves and with others. It is an essential process because we can’t live without communicating.

Communication can be defined as ‘ communication is a process by which two or more person exchange ideas, facts, impressions in way that each gains a common understanding of the meaning, content and use of message.’ Paul Legans.

‘ The imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinion and information by speech, writing and signs’. The American College Dictionary.

One can communicate verbally and non-verbally. But it is important to be a good communicator in today’s time. If one can’t communicate effectively with others then he or she is left all alone. Today, effective communication has become a very important life skill. If one wants to do a job the first thing that is checked it the communication skills of that person. If one wants to do a job the first thing that is checked it the communication skills of that person.

Strong communication skills are required everywhere i.e., professional and personal life. Poor communication skills can result in misunderstandings and can destroy a communication and hence no one wishes to talk to that person.

Few ways by which one can improve his/her communication skills

  1. The first step is to listen. One should listen to what others want to say, rather than just speaking.

2. Be precise bout what you want to say. So plan everything accordingly.

3. If you feel nervous while communicating with others, then first try to communicate the someonw with whom your are comfortable kmaay be a friend or a family member,

4. Believe in yourself and have confidence in what you say, irrespective of the fact if it’s wrong or right. Try to express yourself without fear.

5. Use of proper verbal and non-verbal cues is imporatant in an effective communication. Make sure you use the non-verbal cues (like gesture, body language etc.) properly. Also try to look for the cues that are given by the audience.

There are many things one can do to become a good communicator. These are few thighs according to me, which can actually help in improving the communication skills of a person. One can try these to become a good communicator or can use it for polishing their skills.
