• Forbidden to you are carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, the animal slaughtered in any name other than Allah ' s, the animal which has either been strangled, killed by blows, has died of a fall, by goring or that devoured by a beast of prey - unless it be that which you yourselves might have slaughtered while it was still alive - and that which was slaughtered at the altars. - You are also forbidden to seek knowledge of your fate by divining arrows. All these are sinful acts. This day the unbelievers have fully despaired of your religion. Do not fear them ; but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion, and have bestowed upon you My bounty in full measure, and have been pleased to assign for you Islam as your religion. As for he who is driven by hunger, without being wilfully inclined to sin, surely Allah is All - Forgiving, All - Compassionate.
  तुम्हारे लिए हराम हुआ मुर्दार रक्त, सूअर का मांस और वह जानवर जिसपर अल्लाह के अतिरिक्त किसी और का नाम लिया गया हो और वह जो घुटकर या चोट खाकर या ऊँचाई से गिरकर या सींग लगने से मरा हो या जिसे किसी हिंसक पशु ने फाड़ खाया हो - सिवाय उसके जिसे तुमने ज़बह कर लिया हो - और वह किसी थान पर ज़बह कियी गया हो । और यह भी कि तीरो के द्वारा किस्मत मालूम करो । यह आज्ञा का उल्लंघन है - आज इनकार करनेवाले तुम्हारे धर्म की ओर से निराश हो चुके हैं तो तुम उनसे न डरो, बल्कि मुझसे डरो । आज मैंने तुम्हारे धर्म को पूर्ण कर दिया और तुमपर अपनी नेमत पूरी कर दी और मैंने तुम्हारे धर्म के रूप में इस्लाम को पसन्द किया - तो जो कोई भूख से विवश हो जाए, परन्तु गुनाह की ओर उसका झुकाव न हो, तो निश्चय ही अल्लाह अत्यन्त क्षमाशील, दयावान है

  मरा हुआ जानवर और ख़ून और सुअर का गोश्त और जिस पर के वक्त ख़ुदा के सिवा किसी दूसरे का नाम लिया जाए और गर्दन मरोड़ा हुआ और चोट खाकर मरा हुआ और जो कुएं में गिरकर मर जाए और जो सींग से मार डाला गया हो और जिसको दरिन्दे ने फाड़ खाया हो मगर जिसे तुमने मरने के क़ब्ल ज़िबाह कर लो और बुतों पर चढ़ा कर ज़िबाह किया जाए और जिसे तुम के तीरों से बाहम हिस्सा बॉटो तुम पर हराम की गयी हैं ये गुनाह की बात है अब तो कुफ्फ़ार तुम्हारे दीन से मायूस हो गए तो तुम उनसे तो डरो ही नहीं बल्कि सिर्फ मुझी से डरो आज मैंने तुम्हारे दीन को कामिल कर दिया और तुमपर अपनी नेअमत पूरी कर दी और तुम्हारे दीने इस्लाम को पसन्द किया पस जो शख्स भूख़ में मजबूर हो जाए और गुनाह की तरफ़ माएल भी न हो तो ख़ुदा बेशक बड़ा बख्शने वाला मेहरबान है

  तेज गति के लिए चुस्त शरीर, काटने तथा मांस फाड़ने के लिए परंतु चबाने के लिए नहीं विशेष प्रकार के दांत तथा मारने व शिकार को पकड़ने के लिए तीखे पंजों के कारण ये सबसे अनुकूल मांसाहारी प्राणी हैं ।

  और तुम्हें क्या हो गया है कि जिस पर ख़ुदा का नाम लिया गया हो उसमें नहीं खाते हो हालॉकि जो चीज़ें उसने तुम पर हराम कर दीं हैं वह तुमसे तफसीलन बयान कर दीं हैं मगर जब तुम मजबूर हो तो अलबत्ता और बहुतेरे तो अपनी नफसानी ख्वाहिशों से बे समझे बूझे बहका देते हैं और तुम्हारा परवरदिगार तो हक़ से तजाविज़ करने वालों से ख़ूब वाक़िफ है

• of the one who, on passing through an empty and ruined town, said," When will God bring it to life ?" God caused him to die and brought him back to life after a hundred years and then asked him," How long have you been here ?" He replied," One day or part of a day." The Lord said," No, you have been here for one hundred years. Look at your food and drink. They have not yet decayed. But look at your donkey and its bones. To make your case evidence for the people, see how we bring the bones together and cover them with flesh." When he learned the whole story, he said," Now I know that God has power over all things."
  या उस जैसे को नहीं देखा, जिसका एक ऐसी बस्ती पर से गुज़र हुआ, जो अपनी छतों के बल गिरी हुई थी । उसने कहा," अल्लाह इसके विनष्ट हो जाने के पश्चात इसे किस प्रकार जीवन प्रदान करेगा ?" तो अल्लाह ने उसे सौ वर्ष की मृत्यु दे दी, फिर उसे उठा खड़ा किया । कहा," तू कितनी अवधि तक इस अवस्था नें रहा ।" उसने कहा," मैं एक या दिन का कुछ हिस्सा रहा ।" कहा," नहीं, बल्कि तू सौ वर्ष रहा है । अब अपने खाने और पीने की चीज़ों को देख ले, उन पर समय का कोई प्रभाव नहीं, और अपने गधे को भी देख, और यह इसलिए कह रहे है ताकि हम तुझे लोगों के लिए एक निशानी बना दें और हड्डियों को देख कि किस प्रकार हम उन्हें उभारते है, फिर, उनपर माँस चढ़ाते है ।" तो जब वास्तविकता उस पर प्रकट हो गई तो वह पुकार उठा," मैं जानता हूँ कि अल्लाह को हर चीज़ की सामर्थ्य प्राप्त है ।"

• Allah hath revealed the fairest of statements, a Scripture consistent, paired, whereat doth creep the flesh of those who fear their Lord, so that their flesh and their hearts soften to Allah ' s reminder. Such is Allah ' s guidance, wherewith He guideth whom He will. And him whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no guide.
  अल्लाह ने सर्वोत्तम वाणी अवतरित की, एक ऐसी किताब जिसके सभी भाग परस्पर मिलते - जुलते है, जो रुख़ फेर देनेवाली है । उससे उन लोगों के रोंगटे खड़े हो जाते है जो अपने रब से डरते है । फिर उनकी खालें और उनके दिल नर्म होकर अल्लाह की याद की ओर झुक जाते है । वह अल्लाह का मार्गदर्शन है, उसके द्वारा वह सीधे मार्ग पर ले आता है, जिसे चाहता है । और जिसको अल्लाह पथभ्रष्ट रहने दे, फिर उसके लिए कोई मार्गदर्शक नहीं
