Scandalous Affair : Story Of Love & Psyche Pt 4

She demanded that the princess has to travel to underworld with a box, the land of Hades, and ask Queen Persephone to fill the said box with her beauty for the love goddess. This was Psyche’s last task on completion of which the Love goddess will forgive her & give her blessings to conquer back her love. Psyche travelled day & night to find the entrance to Underworld, but was unsuccessful. She decided to take her life but an ominous voice stopped her.

The voice whispered “ I will help you in finding the route to the Underworld, evade Cerberus, the 3 headed guard dog of underworld & reach ferryman Charon, who will take her in Underworld. But you will not open the box in any situation.”

Psyche descended a cave & reached bank of river Acheron. She payed 2 coins to the ferryman charon to cross the river such that she could meet queen persephone.

Upon reaching the court, The young girl told the Queen that the Love goddess has asked to fill the box with a bit of her beauty, so that she can restore her’s.

The Queen obliged the princess request, returning the box & the princess set sail to the exit of underworld. When the Charon was taking the princess towards exit, she noticed her own reflection in the water. She saw that she looks so tired & withered due to her labours. She thought ‘ The box is filled with beauty up to the brim. I can take a little for myself.’

So Psyche opened the box, and black mist started to swirl around her.

The mist started filling her senses, blacking out light from her eyes & absorbing life from her. Aware of what has happened, Eros departed to find his love. When he found her, the life has exited from her body & Thanatos was there to take her soul.

Using his power, eros removed the black mist & again trapped it in the box. Psyche woke up in Eros arms & they kissed passionately. Psyche returned to the Love goddess to complete her task and eros begged Zeus to make her immortal such that he & her love can be together forever.

Zeus obliged and offered the ambrosia to Psyche which will make her immortal.

Zeus being impressed for her devotion to complete her task gave the couple his blessings that they will never be apart. The love Psyche and Eros have will last all eternity.

As a result of the beautiful union of the couple, the goddess of Pleasure was born. Since then the eros, the god of love & passion, psyche and goddess of Pleasure have been playing with the lives of all mortals & immortals.
