About: Born to Shri Jot Singh Negi on 12 August 1949, Narendra Singh Negi is prominent figure in the folk music of Uttrakhand.

He started his career by composing the "Garhwali Geetmala" but since these Geetmalas came in ten different parts and were from different companies, Negi was findingbit difficult to manage them. Therefore he started releasing his own cassettes under separate titles. His first album was Buraans named after the flower found in the hills of Uttrakhand.

He has also given his voice in Garhwali movies such as

Chakrachal,
Gharjawai,
andMeri Ganga Holi Ta Maima Aali.
Although folk music being his major genre, his lyrics depict the major human insights of the native people.
