In our country, there is reservation in almost every sector, whether it is education, job, teaching, etc. Sometimes back it was really a boon for the backward classes. But now the things are changing and it is proving to be curse for the development of India.
The Constitution of India offers reservations for Scheduled Casts (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) according to the articles 16, 335, 338 & 342.The another reservations are for minorities. The people from all these backward classesgets admissions in colleges with less grades and low fee structures and jobs in government sector easily.
But the question is, is it really required to put up the low grade criteria for backward class in admission process. Is it right to have the fee structure on the basis of castes and not on the basis of income?
Nobody is able to answer rather nobody wants to answer. The intelligent people from India who are in general category doesn’t want to stay in India due to reservation systems and they usually flew to other countries in order to get good jobs. Due to this India is not getting enough intelligent youth generation to itself in order to improve condition of Indian systems. Hence it is said that India is still a developing country and not a developed country like Japan, China. This reservation system was for only ten years after the independence but still due to the selfish motives of politicians these reservations are extended till now as they get most of their votes from backward class people.
Another problem is the students in general category due to higher fees are not able to study further due to their financial problems. They have to go to the colleges having lesser fees even though there is no future of such colleges. Although there are laws for the general category students having low income, but it is not enough as these laws reduces fees only to few extends and not fully as required.
Hence, there should be no reservation in jobs as up to that time people get 23 or 25. They are able stand by their own regardless of any necessity of reservation on the basis of castes. The reservation in the education system should be on the basis of annual income and overall financial conditions, this will be helpful for both the backward classes who really required reservations and economically backward classes.
So in order to make India from developing country to developed country, these are some of the initiatives that should be taken by the government of India. But these actions, we can improve poverty conditions, increase the efficiency in the system, get the talented minds at work and make India a developed country.
