Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students”-Solomon Ortiz
Education is one of the most essential aspects of a person’s life. It helps a person grow and succeed in life; it sharpens your brain as well as makes a huge impact on one’s personality. The question here is where does education comes from? Where can one find it? The answer is simple- education is everywhere, knowledge can be gathered from anywhere at any time.

A teacher plays an important role in any person’s life that’s eager and hungry for knowledge and knows the value of education. A mentor, a guide, a guru, a tutor and a person who loves to spread his/her wisdom.Although a teacher is one of the most honoured and respected profession they don’t get the recognitions they deserve. They share the responsibility of a child with the parents and are usually the only source of education for a child.

In today’s world where the competition is soaring, a student’s life gets affected too and it is a challenging job to cope up with the stress of school, exams and other co-curricular activities. This is the reason why parents gets concerned and seek for different ways of getting a quality education for their children. One of the common trends in India is private tuition or private tutors. Another set of questions that arises here is do we really need to hire a tutor? Is the education provided at schools is not enough? Or the schools today are just another way of making a fortune?

The demand of private tutors is so high that there is a separate market of companies or firms that accommodate tutors according to the needs of the child or parents.

Yes, education is important and every person has the right to be educated but is private tuition necessary? Let’s talk about the advantages and disadvantages of hiring a tutor.

3 reasons why parents need to hire a tutor:
·Continuous poor academic performance of the child
If a child’s grades are dropping continuously maybe because of the fact that he/she is not comfortable in the atmosphere of the school or any personal dispute with the teacher, reason can be anything therefore parents should be open with their child and talk about anything that might bother them. These problems can also be solved by counselling which might properly guide a child and advice the parents whether hiring a private tutor would be a help or not.

·Need of personal attention
Sometimes a child might just need some personal attention because he/she might not be comfortable in studying between so many students. The average strength of a class in schools today is 50, and some students are very timid which restricts them to openly get involved in class and clear up any doubts. This is a very common problem between students and a private tutor or personal attention can really help out.

·Lack of parental guidance
Parents are the only ones to which a child might be able to speak his/her heart out, therefore it is necessary for parents to spend time with their child and pay attention to what might be bothering them and if they need any kind of professional help. Proper supervision in early age might help a child to overcome his/her fears.

3 reasons to consider before hiring a tutor
·It supresses social skills
The education system of any school or the style of teaching is not only limited to just teaching, but it also helps a student to be social and confident. Private tuition might help a child to get good grades but it can’t help in improving self-confidence and developing social skills, in fact it just makes the child more introvert and reserved.

·It makes the child dependent
A tutor might accidently teach a child to be dependent on him/her for everything or every problem. A child might need proper guidance but he/she also needs to be self-dependent. This problem might not affect a child in the early age but at some point in life the lack of being self-dependent can create problems.

·It is a temporary solution for a permanent concern
While a private tutor may help a child get through high school with excellent grades, but at some point in life a child has to overcome all his/her fears as they can’t always have the personal attention of someone. For example; in the process of any job interview stages like group discussion can be barrier for a person due to his/her lack of social skills and self-confidence to speak in a crowd or between a groups of people.

The conclusion is very simple; parents should try avoiding private tutor for their child until and unless there is an absolute need for it.
