The state of Jharkhand, previously a part of the Indian state of Bihar, was carved out of the latter in the year 2000, on November 15th, owing to the countless rebellions and reforms of the Adivasi community, the indigenous inhabitants of the state. Jharkhand is one of the most abundant states of India in terms of vegetation and natural resources. It is home to a number of stunted hills and plateaus, of which the Chhotanagpur Plateau is the most interesting geographical site.

Dalma Hills

The Dalma Hills are a famous tourist attraction in Jharkhand. The accessibility of transportation, the affordability of food and snacks throughout the way and the scenic beauty of the dense forests covering the foothills are the features that appeals to the travellers. One can distinctly hear the trumpeting sounds of wild elephants in the area.

Ranchi

The capital city of the state of Jharkhand is Ranchi. It is a lively and a happening place, with a very friendly environment full of kind, generous and helpful people, and one can ensure the fulfillment of basic amenities very easily. All in all, it’s a very comfortable place to settle in. The Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi, is one of the most famous government-owned mental hospitals in India. Mahendra Singh Dhoni

The renowned Indian cricket player Mahendra Singh Dhoni is from the state of Ranchi. The cricketer is known to be fond of visiting the Maa Dewri Temple in the Diuri area of Ranchi on his way home from every journey he undertakes. The state of Jharkhand is primarily famous because of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and all the residents of the state proudly identify themselves as the “People from Dhoni’s Land”.

Tata Steel

The world famous Tata Group owned iron and steel company, the Tata Steel, is located in the city of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, thereby earning the name “The Steel City of India”. The city is also home to other companies owned by the Tata Group, like Tata Motors, Tata Hitachi, Tata Cummins, Tata Timken and so on.

Jamshedpur

The city of Jamshedpur, equipped with raw materials for the iron and steel industry, is also an eco-friendly city with lots of lush greenery, gardens and parks. The Tata Steel Zoological Park, the Jubilee Park, the Nicco Amusement Park and the Jayanti Sarovar are the major tourist spots in Jamshedpur. Located on the banks of the river Swarnrekha, the city has a diversity of cultures, and has thus earned the title of “Global Compact City”.

Deoghar (Babadham)

The abode of Lord Shiva, Deoghar, is an important Hindu religious site of worship, in Jharkhand, and is frequented mostly in the rainy season, with pilgrims from all around the country. According to the Hindu calendar, in the month of Shraavan, the site can be found brimming with devotees, dressed in saffron clothes, carrying decorated fancy sticks called Kaavarias, singing songs in the praise of Lord Shiva. The whole area appears to be coloured in saffron due to the huge number of people visiting the main temple of Deoghar.

The Tusu Festival

The Tusu Festival, celebrated on January 14thevery year, is the main festival of Jharkhand. The idol of goddess Tusu is worshipped very religiously throughout the state, which is then taken to be submerged in the local water bodies. On the banks of rivers in which the idols are submerged, there are lots of exhibitions and trade fairs put up, to showcase the cultural heritage of the Adivasi community of Jharkhand.

Nineteen years have passed since the bifurcation of the state of Jharkhand from Bihar, and the former has seen tremendous development since its creation, leading to the state being counted among one of the most culturally enriched states of India.
