Tinder, the evergreen trendy dating app is doing some serious business out there and seems its really popular nowadays as Tinder has now become the highest-earning app on both Google Play Store and Apple Store in the non-game category with close to $73 million of earnings. The lead comes from the latest quarterly figures of the store intelligence platform, Sensor Tower that laid out the revenue collections of the top-grossing app across the world in June 2019.
The dating app has overtaken Netflix’s revenues that experienced a drop as a result of defaulting from ‘Apple Tax’. There are currently about 3 million subscribers on Tinder Gold, the premium version of the app. Past few years were not so fruitfull for tinder, as many people in the eastern culture were shy of thinking about online dating or thoung it as a timepass and not a medium of serious relationship. But now many youngsters have adopted the modern day dating and are using tinder at a much higher rate than past years.
Even after the adoption of tinder by eastern countries, the highest revenue as per the country of tinder was 18 percent from the United States, followed by 13 percent from Brazil and 4 percent from Great Britain. The app has undergone a growth spurt in the last year in India but still needs a lot of attention considering the population and youth in the country. The data estimates also represent Google and Apple pre-installed apps also worldwide.
Netflix was on top last year but lies in the second position this year in non-game apps with $61 million in user spending. Netflix when started producing content relating to the country and not their famous series, they experienced an uplift in their sales. Like the sacred games, lust stories that were complete Indian content and earned a lot of profit. About 22 percent of the video-streaming app’s revenue was from the United States, followed by 3 percent from Great Britain.
YouTube ( when they didn't launch their premium services ) and Tencent Video are the next highest-grossing apps, while Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and TikTok continue to be the most downloaded free apps.
As per the Sensor Tower data, Android users spent $14.2 billion on apps! While the Apple App Store accounted for $25.5 billion in-app spends.
